Rainbow 88’s charity fundraiser for Stockport Mind

Last night, we had the pleasure of attending a fundraiser in aid of Stockport Mind which was organised by the lovely Linda held at her restaurant, Rainbow 88.

Linda is very active in fundraising and has raised over £180,000 for a range of great causes in the local community, such as, Alzheimer’s Society, Stockport Young Carers, Cancer related services, NSPCC Childline Services and Shopmobility Stockport – just to name a few!

Many people came to enjoy the night. It was a fabulous evening was filled with singing, gorgeous Chinese food, games and a raffle. One of our trustees, Mark won the heads and tails game and donated the vouchers back to Stockport Mind and were auctioned off by Linda.

We guessed the length of the speeches. We heard from Linda and Shirley Williams (Chair of the Trustees).

We were also very privileged to hear an inspirational speech prepared by Liv Bligh and delivered by her friend Franki Aspray. This speech gave insight into Liv’s experiences of living with Bipolar, Anorexia, self-harm and suicidal ideation (and attempt) and how she has overcome and coped with these difficulties. Liv is now living self-harm free and will be going to university in September 2016. Also, over the last 3 years, Liv has been doing some amazing work fundraising for Mind. This year, Liv is doing a sponsored silence for 150 hours and is doing brilliantly.

We’d like to say a massive thank you Linda, who organised the fundraiser and held it at her restaurant, Rainbow 88. We’d also like to say a massive thank you to Liv and Franki for sharing Liv’s experiences with us and huge thank you to everyone who came to support Stockport Mind!
