Yesterday the Government set out how it would spend public money for the next four years in the Spending Review.
Thanks to your campaigning, mental health got its own specific mention and the Government announced a £600 million investment in mental health services.
This is a great start, but it’s not enough. It is still vital that we see more investment in mental health from NHS England. Years of underfunding and five consecutive years of cuts mean mental health services are stretched to their very limits and demand for services is rising.
We are still very concerned about cuts to public health budgets; pressures on housing and social care and the issues many people are facing with the benefits system. These are all critical in supporting people with mental health problems and their families to live with independence and dignity.
