Comment: Run by service users for service users, STUFF aims to combat stigma and give mental health service users a stronger voice in Stockport. Represents the interests of service users on a range of committees and encourage people to voice their opinions on mental health services. Offers support and companionship to service users. People who have had or are currently experiencing mental distress are encouraged to come along and have a “cuppa and a chat”, make new friends OR become more involved with influencing changes to mental health services. Involved with training and research connected to promoting well being and improved services for service users and carers.

Comment: The access + liaison component of the PCMHS provides a single point of access into mental health services, it offers assessment for people and refers/signposts to most appropriate services. The liaison service assesses people in the emergency dept. and within the Acute trust following an incident of deliberate self harm. Accepts referrals from GP’s, police, other agencies and professionals and also self referrals.

Comment: Provide professional advice, active support and information for people receiving services from Stockport NHS Trust. This is anyone using Stepping Hill, Cherry Tree,or The Meadows Hospitals, either as an in-patient or as an out-patient. The service is also for relatives, carers and staff members. They are able to actively listen to patients’ views and feedback these views to the Chief Executive and Trust Board. They are also the official complaints department for Stockport NHS Trust. The service has access to interpreters and signers on request.
