In May we celebrated the 20th anniversary of our involvement with the Thursday at One art group, which we support and help to run in conjunction with Stockport Baptist Church.
Group members, Volunteers, and staff members (past and present) came together to celebrate with cake, photographs, displays, songs and speeches.
It’s fantastic to think that this group has been going for so long (the group actually goes back a bit further still, than when we became involved!) with many different people enjoying and benefiting from taking part over the years; although people have come and gone, some of the Volunteers have been there since the very beginning.
The original constitution document from 1999 states ‘The objective is to enable people from Stockport who may have mental health, or related, problems, to meet in a friendly, stress-free environment, to associate and interact with a team of helpers from the church engaging in a variety of arts and crafts, enabling them to gain a sense of achievement and self worth’.
The group retains the same ethos, values and objectives to this day.
Well done to everyone who has been involved over the 20+ years. Here’s to another 20! What an achievement and a milestone event.

One long-term project the group collaborated on from 2011 and completed in 2018 was a wonderful wall hanging/banner, and you can read about that here.
