Pasia’s – cake and compassion

Pasia’s – cake & compassion – is a small independent cake shop and gallery in the heart of Romiley village, opening this week.

Tina, who is setting this up,  is linking in with a number of local organisations – including us – as part of her new venture. The idea is that this is going to be far more than just a cake shop – rather it will be inclusive of all, and aim to improve the wellbeing of the local community.

She has written this passage as to how the cafe idea came about and what it will stand for:

Pasia’s

Pasia’s – cake & compassion is a small independent cake shop and gallery in the heart of Romiley village. I am supporting local artists and ‘from home’ businesses by stocking their artwork and produce.

It will cater for the many needs, wants and beliefs of the modern baked goods consumer, bringing joy to those who are used to missing out. I aim to improve the wellbeing of my local community in Romiley by bringing people together to inspire and educate. I will also be working with LGBT Foundation, People Like Us Stockport, Birthday Stars and a local eco-friendly group to create an inclusive and supportive space.

Pasia’s is named after my Mum’s Mum who was never happy with her amazing lemon drizzle loaf and gave her time volunteering anywhere she could. It will be the only place in Romiley proudly displaying the pride flag. It’s not exclusively LGBT, rather all-inclusive.

As a gay woman with a history of personal and familial mental health difficulties, who happens to like baking, art and being green, the organisations that I am supporting reflect who I am as a person. I have had so much support in setting up this business and it is definitely time that I gave back! It will be my honour to display a Mind flag and to help in whatever way I can.

The address is 2D Compstall Road, Romiley, Stockport, SK6 4DS. I am officially opening the door on Saturday 30th March, but am holding a ‘Pilot Party’ on Wednesday 27th between 10-2, to test the waters.
