On 22nd November, we organised a winter celebration event for our Volunteers to thank them for their fantastic year-round support.
They bring a wide variety of experience and skills to their different roles, and we simply couldn’t function without them.
Our volunteers contribute at various different locations and times throughout the week, so don’t always get the chance to meet each other. Events like this let them all come together. “This is like a family isn’t it,” said one volunteer. “I had a right laugh, I really needed that!” said another.
The Chair of our Board of Trustees, Shirley Williams, attended to thank the volunteers. She said: “I’d just like to thank you all on behalf of Stockport and District Mind for all the work that you do for us, and not just the work you do routinely, but the fact you’re great ambassadors for us and talk to people about us.
This shows other people we are an organisation worth supporting. We’re very grateful and you’re very much part of our team. We couldn’t survive without you. Thank you very much.” Shirley also extended her thanks to Natalie who co-ordinates the Volunteers.
The event was held at the Ladybrook pub in Bramhall, and they put on great food for us again. We also had the pleasure of Magic Philip for the second year on the bounce. In addition to wowing our volunteers with his tricks again, Philip even brought us some balloons in the shape of a flower!
