World Mental Health Day 2017

On World Mental Health Day 2017 (WMHD17), we will be in various places around Stockport to raise awareness and get people talking about mental health. We will also be delivering training, meaning we can help to educate people on the day, as well as tackling stigma and discrimination.

In addition, we are launching the Greater Manchester Time to Change Peer Champion Hub alongside Tameside Oldham and Glossop Mind and Rochdale Mind.

We are holding two information stands at Stockport Railway Station. Feel free to pop down between 8am-10am and/or 4pm-7pm to say hello and receive information.

Another place you can catch us is at The Big Conversation. This is at Edgeley Park 10am-3pm. Pennine Care have invited Stockport residents to find out about the future of mental health services and give feedback.

We will also have a presence at John Lewis in Cheadle. Find us within ‘The Place To Eat’ between 11am and 4pm.

Whilst at John Lewis, we will be delivering training to their staff. This is especially fitting because this year’s WMHD is themed ‘workplace wellbeing’.

Another training session will be at Romiley Depression Group, 7.30pm-9.00pm. This is free and open to all, no need to book, so you can just turn up at Romiley Lifecentre (SK6 4BN). The session will include mental health awareness, stigma, discrimination and diagnosis.

The Stockport County FC Community Foundation have allowed us to pick County’s closest home fixture to WMHD to hold an information stall and bucket collection. We will be at the County Vs Blyth Spartans match on Saturday 14th October. Kick off is 3pm but we will be around as soon as gates open.

We’re really looking forward to another great World Mental Health Day. We relish the chance to connect with our community in various places around Stockport, and get people talking about mental health. Please feel free to come along and see us at any of the above. We would be delighted to see as many people as possible!
