Stockport Pride 2017

On Sunday 30th July, we were at the first ever Stockport Pride, a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.

Many other excellent organisations were in attendance at what was a really great event.

We’ve recently been further strengthening our links with the LGBTQ+ community in other ways, including linking up with the LGBT Foundation to both give and receive training.

At Pride we held a mental health information stand, allowing people to drop by and chat if they wanted to. We also had booklets and leaflets on mental health awareness ready to take away.

Another part of our presence on the day was fundraising by way of a tombola. A special shout out goes to our volunteer Pat, who has worked tirelessly for us on a flurry of recent tombolas – both in preparation for them, and running them on the day – and this was very popular at Pride.

The proceeds from the Pride tombola, in addition to a couple of collection tins on our stall, amounted to an excellent 157.72. Pat also had assistance from two great young helpers on the day, assisting on the tombola and Lucky Dip:

At the event we even filmed a short video for our Youtube channel, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

We look forward to continuing our work with the LGBTQ+ community.
