We are sad to let you know that Betty/Johnnie Adshead (Stockport Mind’s honorary President) has died.
Betty suffered a stroke at the end of February and contracted pneumonia.
Betty was well into her 90s and stayed in her own home until last month and when we last saw her a few weeks back, whilst frustrated with her lack of mobility and reaching that point where life was no longer something she wanted to fight to hold on to, she was still lively, asking questions about Mind, and fairly content when reflecting on her life.
Betty frequently reflected on her work with Mind which began in the early 1970s when she was one of the founding members of the Charity.
Betty continued to work in a number of volunteer roles including being our Chairperson for a number of years. She regularly attended AGMs until a couple of years ago.
The funeral is on Friday 8th April at the Cypress Chapel, Stockport Crematorium, 10.30am.
