A BIG thank you to Lucy Swindells who is fundraising for Stockport Mind.
“This year I have decided to raise money for Mind Stockport.
Mental illness affects 1/3 of the population in the UK and with more stresses and worries in life (and better diagnosis) there are more people, and families affected out there.
Mental illness still has a sad stigma attached to it and unfortunately many of us have, or will suffer with it. Whether it will be anxiety, depression, schizophrenia or post natal depression. It can affect all sexes, all walks of life and all ages. There is such a wide range. Mental illness does not make people weak, it just means people need extra help and support at points. Whether this being a chat, a hug, a group of friends or a focus in life. For people not to treat them like they are weak or a lesser person. To not feel embarrassed or weak for suffering. To be able to open up and talk. Often once people can do this it helps towards the healing.
I am supporting Stockport Mind because due to the NHS being so stretched and the funding constantly being cut, many people reach out to their local charities and often the NHS points people towards them. Many of the men and women who work here have a passion and use their time to make a difference in peoples lives and help them through some of the toughest times and although I am one person, I would like to make a difference and help with funding and mostly I would like to bring awareness and make a change in peoples lives.
With your support we can do this. Please help me smash my goal and help the local community out. This is how I am raising money:
Edinburgh Winter Run
Chester 1/2 Marathon
In between I will be doing cake sales, coffee mornings, park runs in fancy dress (raffle tickets for ridiculous ideas) and as many things I can think off. Please help me out with this. I will post dates to follow once these smaller events are confirmed.
Thank you for reading this and please help me along the way. This is something very personal for me and I appreciate all your help. Please spread the word!”
